As scientists rebellion action go on worldwide, asking for climate change to be tackled with the urgency it deserves to be treated, is time to take a look at what goes on inside universities and how can university themselves, as insitution and not simply as single 'scientists', make an impact in the right direction
Communication is important in these days and age. I have already spoken about the ‘power of the narrative’. It’s all about the stories we tell and how we tell them.
Stories are made of words, and vocabulary is something that is constantly evolving. There is a cycle whereby ‘new words’ enter our everyday lives, then become overused (some may say abused) and then new ones enter and the cycle starts again. The newest IPCC report is out
And how could I not talk about it? The IPCC is the Intergovernmental panel on climate change, is the United Nation body for assessing the science of climate. Divided up in three main working groups (a ‘physical science’, an ‘impacts, adaptation and vulnerability’ and a ‘mitigation’) plus a task force on inventories.. The latest report was all about mitigation of climate change. The full report is 63 pages long but there is also a summary for policymakers available The key points? I am close to celebrate 32 years on this planet and for this occasion I decided it was time to take a close look at the climate changes that have occurred since, seeing what we experienced as gen-Yers (or millennials) around the globe (should you feel left out you can use this calculator - up to 2019)
