Last year, around this time, I spoke about the importance of wetlands for word wetlands day 2020 ( I recommend you go back to that post to catch up on what wetlands day stands for and the importance of wetlands and why should we do something about it).
A lot has happened in one year, it has been a super eventful (or event-less) one, but somehow we are here again. And this is not just a normal ‘world wetlands day’ but is the first one falling in the UN decade of ecosystem restoration Time to collect our thoughts, and look at progresses in the 'science of wetlands'…

Today's post is inspired by a conference I attended this week (mostly from my sofa, partly from the office..): Ocean Recovery Conference 2021. On the first day there was a session entirely dedicated to young speakers . What a refreshing thing! It's definitely something I'd like to see in more conferences such as this one - where the FUTURE is being discussed, or better what can be done NOW to protect the future. But the truth is, that - well the system is a bit flawed. Why I say this? And so it goes...
Christmas has passed and life is getting back to being stringent, a new wave is here and am losing count. Actually. For the sake of staying sane I am sort of avoiding the news. By now we know what we should and shouldn’t do. And while I am of solitary tendencies, a bit of a lone wolf, I am also like everyone else a bit fed up. Plus you seem to be wanting things more when you can’t have them, so those mountains on the horizons are calling more and more and so is the urge to see far away friends or meeting that new person, that lives just over there, on the other side of ... the municipality border! So, instead of thinking about negative thoughts, let’s think about really how to make the most of this time. Travelling feels like something from another world . When was the last time you care freely decided to take off for a weekend ? While it is possible to still do it , it has become much harder and there are hurdles after hurdles to jump. A lot of paperwork and getting acquainted with medical systems all over , and it requires to have time because you might have to isolate for a few days or wait for some tests results or have your flight cancelled . I recently was one of those few who did it. I had some good reasons to leave, I was going somewhere where I wouldn’t encounter many people and I knew i could travel respectfully , and definitely have zero regrets and am happy with my decision to go . But passing through empty airports, it made me question what would the future of travelling be? Welcome 2021!
As promised : I am talking about happiness today After all, isn’t what we all want? To find the secret to happiness? I have been pondering about it a lot, and some may say I am a very happy person At least, I feel it. Maybe I forget to smile on the outside, but is the inside that counts. Why? |
